Legally scrapping your unwanted vehicle
If you choose to scrap your vehicle with us, we will ensure that it is disposed of legally. After processing your vehicle with the relevant paperwork, we will issue you with the DVLA Certificate of Destruction (CoD). This will be issued to you, the disposer.
A CoD is evidence that your vehicle has been processed and disposed of legally, giving you complete peace of mind that you are no longer associated with the vehicle.
We recommend keeping this document safe as proof that your car or van has been legally scrapped.

A Certificate of Destruction (CoD) is a document issued to you after a vehicle has been scrapped in your name. This document will be sent to you either by email or post, and is proof that you, as the owner, are no longer accountable for that vehicle.
A licenced ATF has access to the DVLA database to remove your vehicle from there, generating the CoD. The vehicle will no longer exist and you will receive any tax refunds due
These documents are proof that a licensed and legal scrapyard/authorised treatment facility (ATF) has processed your vehicle in line with current legislation and you should just keep the document as proof of where it was disposed of.
A CoD offers you evidence and proof that the vehicle has been scrapped and is no longer your responsibility. Some scrapyards may not actually scrap your vehicle and will use the car or van for illegal activities. Since the car is registered in your name, you may be liable, which is why this document is very important and something that we make sure you will receive.
